Accepted a new job offer right in front of my boss

Obligatory this didn't happen today. Strap in, long one. TL:DR at the end. I've been working 12 hour night shifts with no weekends at this company and it sucked. The morning shift never showed up on time which meant we had to stay on until the next shift arrived, we had no shift manager to fix this since the previous one was sacked because he was doing some shady stuff during work hours. Also, morning shift manager was a dip shit and didn't care. General Manager wouldn't accept to meet with us to discuss issues. Despite being a top performer I was always rewarded with -let's all say it together at the count of three- One. Two. More work! Exactly, more work and more responsibilities, nowhere near enough money in raises, so yeah, I decided enough was enough and started looking for a new job. At the same time one…

One.
Two.
More work!
Exactly, more work and more responsibilities, nowhere near enough money in raises, so yeah, I decided enough was enough and started looking for a new job. At the same time one of the -always-late-to-my-shift guy from the morning shift gets promoted to night shift manager a.k.a. my new boss.
He calls for a team meeting, says he expects us do our job right because he wants to cash in his bonus (none of us got a bonus) and not to bother him at all and if we have a problem we can “man up and it will go away”.
Queue two weeks later, It's Thursday morning and we're leaving our work site and a colleague is giving me a ride home because we live in the same direction, night boss wants to tag along because he has been having car troubles and since my colleague is a genuine all-around-awesome guy he agrees.
We stop for gas, my colleague steps out to the pump, my cell rings, I see the number and recognize it, it's from a place I've been interviewing. I pick up and when the moment came I made sure to very eloquently say “I can start right away” we hang up and my interaction with night guy goes like this:

NightGuy: “You're leaving?”
Me: “Nope. I'm already gone.”
NG: “Wait, you can't do that BatmanMoney”
Me: “I can and just did. I'll work tonight to return stuff and say bye to the crew”
NG: “This is out of the blue”
Me: “Is it? I've been trying to meet with General Manager to discuss issues for a long time and you said to man up”
NG: “I'll talk to General Manager right now”
NG pulls his cell, loudly has a convo with GM, hangs up and says to me “He's gonna meet you tonight”

Last shift rolls around I tell everyone I'm leaving, NG assures everyone I won't be leaving because GM is gonna change my mind when he gets here. GM didn't show up until the very last hour of that shift. Pulls me out of my workspace to have a word with me and leads me to a conference room, NG tags along.

GM starts with the usual speech “You're important to us and you're family here” then goes to offer a morning shift, 9-5, weekends off, a promotion is on the table if I can hack it (which is stupid because nights were 20 times busier than mornings). I ask them to put this on writing so I can sign it. He says there's no way he can do that right now because it's already Saturday morning, not until legal can review it next week and he also needs me to stay in my current position for 3-6 months until they finalize the details of my new position while I train my replacement.
I check my watch, it's almost 7AM, I excuse myself to go to the bathroom but go to my workspace instead, gather my things and head straight to security.
Once there I tell the security guard that it's my last day and that GM is on site to sign reception of my stuff, guard says “Yeah right, on a Saturday”. I go “This is real. Call him” Guard calls GM on the phone and summons him to the front. GM shows up and to not make this already long story longer, I return all company issued assets and he signs for them.

Clocking out at exactly 7AM for the first time in months!

If you're in a fucked up toxic job, start looking for a new job today, even if the next one also sucks at least the faces will be new and you can work with that until you can find the right one for you!

TL:DR: Decided to quit a toxic job and accepted a new job offer in front of my boss, then rejected a bullshit 'retention/promotion offer' from my General Manager.
