posted a while back that my vacation days were in limbo and i had no idea if i had them or not
i didnt really expect to update, its just that i got a surprisingly good result out of the whole thing
recap: i take time off for surgery using my hospitalization leave, not my vacation days. company messes up and logs the time period i was recovering from surgery as vacation days, so poof! there goes almost all my vacation days. after a lot of emailing back and forth, they finally give me back my vacation days. i apply for 10 days off, and then they tell me i dont have enough days off to cover those 10 days.
the thing is, im actually only entitled to 2 weeks vacation time per year, and i'd already used up a bunch of days, so i knew i probably only had about 6 days-ish left. but somehow, when they gave me back my vacation days, some details got mixed up and they said i actually had 12 days left to use. i was surprised but i wasnt going to argue back about it. then in their very last email when they said i didnt have enough days off to cover my vacation, i screenshotted and showed them the emails they had previously sent me and asked exactly how many days am i entitled to now? because you keep changing your answer. i threw the ball in their court.
they backpedaled and approved my time off. the head of HR themselves signed off on the email, so i just kept quiet. i wasnt too sure what was going on, but i guess HR hurt themselves in the confusion or something and i actually got extra days off
