Wife is an RN working for AdventHealth. Her time on and off work is documented automatically by a clock in/out system. Her dept regularly asks her and her colleagues to work overtime. That's fine, she is willing. But even though they can keep track of her regular hours, as soon as she goes overtime, they have a hard time paying her for it; unless she takes extra steps to manually report her overtime hours, which they have made an inconvenient, non-user-friendly process, she does not get paid for her overtime. When anyone mentions it, they make vague comments about “yeah, that new software, though…”
I'm not sure this is legal, but it allows AdventHealth to avoid expensive overtime payments which they basically require their healthcare workers to “donate”.
