Advice please! Maternity cover advertised as higher than my current salary

As the title suggests, I’m pregnant and my employer is currently advertising for a 12 month fixed term position to cover my maternity leave. The higher end of the annual salary range that’s advertised is £1000 more than my current salary. I’ve asked continuously for pay increases throughout my employment and have only ever been given one that was part of a company-wide pay increase. I feel helpless because being pregnant I cannot just leave to find a higher paying job because I wouldn’t have worked there long enough to get paid the maternity pay. How should I go about bringing this up to my manager? Sorry for formatting I’m on my phone, also in UK.
