Okay, so my husband is a full-time head chef at a small taphouse here in our town.
He makes better money than the rest of the staff, I should know, I've had to help occasionally there.
Anyway, he works over 100 hours a pay period, at least. He's salary. Recently, there have been a slew of bad things happening to our family.
Our dog was hit on the highway and died, we've lost both paternal grandmas, and he's also gotten very sick twice.
My husband is a salaried employee and has been told his paychecks are inconsistent because he is prorated. I understand what a prorated salary his. But he works more than 100 hours in a pay period and never has missed more than two days in one pay period.
I've got an AS in business Admin and Management, and if I recall correctly, this is illegal.
However, I'm doubting myself, as the accountant insists I'm wrong, and he can be very intimidating.
Any advice, guys?
Keep in mind, my husband needs to get his driver's license in our new state, and unfortunately, it has lapsed as far as when it expired. We didn't have the money at the time as my daughter took such a severe fall it required she and I move to CA temporarily for the doctors at a pediatric hospital that specializes in head trauma.
(My husband had to stay behind because his boss insisted the restaurant couldn't close. We were financially fucked around that time and had no choice)
