*(Advice seeking)* Think I might have stumbled into something shady

I noticed ads on a few job boards for a solar company looking for customer service representatives. Got a call within two days from a number registered to a different company. I set up an interview for today in a city about an hour away. 5 minutes before I arrive (early) I am notified that there has been an “emergency” that has taken the interviewer away from the office. Deep apologies from HR director. Told them that was okay and I would be happy to set up a teams interview this evening when the interviewer has time. This was the beginning of the disillusionment. When I get home I start doing some digging online, more than I had done prior. Prior to now, I had been unable to find ANYTHING on this company. The website is one page, and all links are broken.

Only a phone number is available (888 number)

Turns out, interviewer is also the owner of both the company I am interviewing for as well as the company in his original caller-ID.

On their website, they claim to operate in 20 states. Nothing exists for this company outside of my local area. There is no BBB rating for any of the companies this CEO has operated.

I am pretty sure I've walked into some sort of scam or real shady business. I can't find a registration for the company either, it doesn't seem to be a DBA name with the real company name behind that DBA.

So much of this situation feels really fishy.

I kind of want to see how this all plays out as I am not in desperate need to take any job, especially one that seems to be pulling some classic tactics.

Any thoughts on this, antiwork? What could be some good questions to ask this fella when we interview to make him uncomfortable about his shady practices?

I would really like to figure out what this is. They have tons and tons of job postings for several positions. I really would like to get enough information to expose whatever scam or shady practice is going on here so others don't waste their time and get exploited.

Edit: forgot to mention, this guy has three different LinkedIn profiles with a couple companies listed to each one. There is enough crossover information to identify this person, same college and graduation year listed for all the accounts. Some of the companies are on more than one of his LinkedIn profiles.
