I want to give some words of advice from someone who recently quit a job after 10 years of employment.
1) It is okay to quit without notice. I want to repeat this and emphasize this. IT IS OK TO QUIT WITHOUT NOTICE!!!
You do not have to give an explanation. If they ask if you'd come back or reconsider, 'No' is a complete answer. They may push and prod,, but you are in control of your own life.
2) You are worth respect. If your boss disrespects you, you have every right to quit and work elsewhere. The market is an employee's market. Businesses are begging for employees. Some are offering sign on bonuses. Places are raising hourly rates.
3) Remember the benefits. Health insurance, retirement, vacation and sick pay, they all matter.
I switched employers and I went from one job after 10 years at 18/hr with 10 days vacation/sick pay and paid health insurance to a job that pays 19/hr to start with health insurance, vacation and sick pay (12 data to start), employee owned company, life insurance, and many more.
4) Just remember: It's OK to quit without notice.
5) if you can afford it, take some time off after quitting before you start the job search again. I took a week, and it was the best ever.
