So I used to work for a company that sells games in a halting sort of fashion. When I was hired I asked for full time hours, which were denied by the first manager but I was given a key holder position with it. 8.75 an hour for part time. I didn't mind because I was working this as a second job while I worked another job later.
Then my manager got fired after he got hit by a car trying to stop people from shoplifting and spending a week in the hospital. Because of course the company doesn't care about the person. So they hired a new manager who said 'you know what? We have too many key holders so we're going to demote you, cut your pay, and give you less hours'. So I took it because, again, second job and all.
Then I noticed they stopped putting me on the schedule for months at a time. They hired new people before putting me in for even a few hours. Then after that they took away our free subscription to their premium service, then they took more and more. One day I decided to stop by to see no hours again and my manager told me right there (after a huge rush where he would have needed me) that he can't keep me around so he has to let me go. But don't worry, I can always reapply during the holiday! What a joke.
Too bad this was a second job because I'm sure that I can't claim unemployment while working another job.
