On 12/23/21, I was illegally fired for complaining about forklift safety to the general manager of the store I worked at. I was informed by an NLRB Field Examiner that I could file a charge against them. I filed the charge and waited, during that time I was in the hospital for over a month from being sick, and then most recently enlisted into the U.S. Army.
Originally I thought the charge wasn’t going to do anything and that I should just move on. So I contacted the field examiner and they told me to wait instead. I was contacted and told that the case had been settled and the company I worked for agreed to terms.
I won 100% backpay for the all the time I would have been working there, and reinstatement. I didn’t take the job back because i’m leaving for basic training and I wouldn’t want to go back anyways.
The best part is the general manager that fired me has to have mandatory training about employees rights and labor laws. The store has to write me an apology letter, remove all files of me being terminated illegally, and post National Labor Relations Act print outs around the store.
