Allow me to break down why diversity hiring is an absolute sham and is destroying wages

For those of you out of the loop, the current obsession people have with diversity hires is pretty much just more affirmative action, which had little to no impact on wealth in minorities in the last 40+ years. The government in the US refuses to put money into impoverished communities (ie mainly POC communities) thereby providing terrible educational and support structures necessary to prepare kids for higher education and future employment. As a result, many kids struggle to be competitive both in acceptance to university and in their performance. Employers know this. It's why bias against minorities still persist so strongly in the workplace. However, employers have realized that it's important to fill diversity quotas due to the current cultural climate, so they hire less qualified individuals and offer them lower wages. There are no salary stipulations on diversity hires, and since the stance is “look how great we are for giving you this job no one else would,” they pretty much guarantee they can treat you however they want. On top of that, because salary stats are anonymous, the lower wages for diverse hires knock the entire industry's average pay rate down so they can then offer less to everyone else.

It's a scam. I know because the states of minority pay aren't equal to white men and personally, I've worked jobs where there are mandatory quotas for women. They are always the shittiest with pay negotiated down from normal rates to fewer benefits that are standard on other jobs. If ANY of the women attempt to fight for more they are quickly dispensed with because the people at the top are more concerned with looking good and saving money than actually providing a good supportive workplace. I'm not sure what exactly is the best solution but I can guarantee if you are recruited for a job that has a hyper aggressive diversity program there is a good chance you should stay the hell away. Also, if you want to fight for diversity in the workplace, start your battle in marginalized communities where children have terrible educational opportunities. This is the truth the wealthy in this country are hoping to divert your attention from because they know they lose their inherent advantage when poor children are given the ability to compete fairly.
