I'm looking at buying a home. The plan is to keep one of the bedrooms for myself and renting the others to friends at a favorable rate. Legally this doesn't make me a landlord because I also live there, at least in my state. Socially, does it make me a landlord? I worry about losing friendships if a hierarchy comes into existence.
