Hi,
I've worked for a company about 7 years now. I am the lowest on “jobgrade” as a “solution consultant”.
As a Solution consultant for this company, I have to hold project managers and customers hands from start to finish, doing everything from engineering, integration and business consulting within the products capabilities.
I also have to do everything that is related to my country in terms of customer questions, support, follow up – now this is a very large corporate business, just happens that everyone before me in my country has quit, leaving me as the only one with “cross knowledge”.
As mentioned, solution consultant is the lowest of the job grades, which means everyone I work with is my “superior”, there is at least 5 manager-roles for every “consultant”.
Now, coming back from my vacation (first one in 4 years), they have lined up so much work for me, that is not only out of time constraint, but also impossible to do. The product(system) does not support the cases that are sold to the customers, and I am expected to deliver it – “ASAP”.
My futile resistance of “this does not work how you think it works” or “can you please provide example of how you think this would work” is just shamed on me as I am incapable of doing it.
I am expected to do architecture, support the new project manager and build the “add-on” to the current product. I have explained is way too complex and not possible to do in the way they think it can be done. On top of this, I am asked to integrate with a new 3rd party vendor, which has never been done before. I tried to involve product management for a feasibility guarantee, or at least support – they just claim it “can probably be done” – with no examples or anything to support the idea.
Am I being paranoid or are they fucking me over? I feel like they are trying to shut me down, putting me on this “impossible mission” so that they can keep me down here? Everything else I go above and beyond – this happened JUST AS I got a new manager, very nice first impressions.
My old manager started 2 years ago, I've had to hold his hands and answer a lot of questions he had daily, only to see him advance in the business to the top and hand me over to a newly recruited manager..
I feel like it's either of two options?
1) I am being fucked over, 2) they trust me to do this, but are actually clueless how this really works..
sorry if rant is inconsistent or stupid, just feeling like shit.
