So back in late-March, I started a job as an “Immigration Paralegal” at a law firm. I recently graduated from undergrad last year, so I have been working at law firms trying to gain experience. I started the job here, and everything was fine for the first 2 months. I was getting alot of assignments, and while I did make a few mistakes here and there, it was nothing severe, just attention to detail issues, that I later learned from. In Mid-May, we got a new employee here, around my age, and I instantly knew things were going to change. He started off doing Reception work up front, but now, they have him doing more Paralegal work. I spoke to one of the attorneys, whos also like the boss of the firm, and she told me that I was going to start doing more work for her, in terms of Family Law. However, the past week, she continues to pull this other guy away to do translations and work for her, leaving me to the curb, doing basically nothing or minute tasks for 8 hours a day. Today, I peeped the new guy's computer monitor(like I didnt go into it, I just saw as I was up front), and I had seen the attorney who I worked with for the first 2 months, sending him assignments. Originally, I would wake up in the mornings and have assignments being given to me. So this morning, I got fed up, and sent the attorney a message, respectfully and proffesionally, stating that I liked it when I was recieving a lot more assignments, because it kept me more productive. He read it and didn't respond. I have been here for almost 4 months, but I am beginning to start to feel like they are replacing me, and favoring the other guy over me. They talk more with him, have conversations with him alot more, are always smiling and laughing with him, and with me, nothing. I know that they like him more than me, I just know it, but I can't lose this job. I need this money, and I also need to work hard to prove to some of the bosses here that I am a good employee, so if I need a recommendation for Law School, they could do it. I just needed a place to rant, if you made it this far, thank you for reading. I have been stressing out about it the past few weeks.
