A little over 5 months ago I was hired on by a small commercial real estate company as their Director of Operations. I was promised that there will be no red tape and that I will have full control since I had to create their processes, procedures and build departments.
In the last five months the owner of the company has changed the processes of the company at least 7 times and has refused to hire anyone I have requested to manage different departments.
Yesterday I was put on a performance plan for not being able to perform my duties as the director. I explained to him that I cannot be a property manager, a maintenance director, construction manager and an operations director at once. His response was that we all wear different hats in the company and that all he is hearing are excuses and for what I am being paid he is expecting more.
I am at the end of my rope and are planning on quitting tomorrow since I feel like I am being abused by a narcissist or am I WRONG?
