Am I not doing enough or is the business owner demanding too much?

Since the start of my position ~11 months ago as a convenient store stocker, I have routinely – swept and mopped the floor – take out the trash and compost – stock soda beverages – take out recycling, and – turn off fridge lights In that order. I wasn’t “trained” in the manner of which these tasks would be done in the span of ~5 hours. Initially, it would take so long to finish all tasks, but now I can finish all said tasks in ~3.5 hours. I’ll admit there’ll be some nights I didn’t complete a cleaning task due to shipment of soda beverage supplies coming in for the night usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Before Summer time, there was a task to clean out grease-trap done every day except Sunday. Since the start of my position ~11 months ago as a convenient store stocker, I have routinely
– swept and mopped the floor
– take out the trash and compost
– stock soda beverages
– take out recycling, and
– turn off fridge lights
In that order.

Around that time hiring another stocker for the weekend (since I worked on weekdays) proved troublesome given one potential hire didn’t return after cleaning the grease-trap. The business owner opted to take on the responsibility granted within a week changed the routine to clean the grease-trap on Saturday only. As for the reason, it’s debatable, but they claimed it’s to provide more time in completing the other tasks. The business owner doesn’t work closing shifts except for Friday, and I guess Saturday.

Due to swift completion of my routine I developed, I have been tardy, I’ll admit, but I haven’t absent for any day I would be scheduled to work. I have been late twice, one of which was communicated ahead of time. Lately, the business owner has been more critical after I was late the second even going so far as to state they were “disappointed”. They follow an ideology that every minute on the shift is a minute doing something; constantly requesting “everything” done when they wouldn’t even define what else there is to be done even when asked and criticizing almost exclusively with little or no appreciation. The business owner would keep watch on surveillance cameras even when they’re not there and call if they witness any long periods of inactivity which is my case a lot lately due to completing earlier. Keep in mind it’s a stocker position: Tuesday through Friday 5pm to 11pm.
