Am I the only one who thinks strikes is a ridiculous way to protest these days?

I mean, if you think about it, the point is to loose your wage in order to bother people like you, and hoping them being bothered will make the public opinion in your favor and push the rich and powerful people to be enough afraid so they will change their mind. I know strike hasn't been intended this way when it was created, and that the lack of profits was the goal. But now people get poorer and poorer and profits are so big that before a company starts fearing for it's future, strikers have time to become homeless three times. If you're not a needed profession, nobody cares about you strike, and if you're a needed one, people insult you for striking. Like, strike is no longer a solution anymore?
