Am Told I Can Be Easily Replaced, But When Asked About Understaffing Response Is “Do You Know How Many People We’ve Interviewed?”

My workplace has been understaffed for a long time. I went from having three other people in my department to working all by myself because they can't find anybody else who wants to work the job. I had a sit down with a manager because a coworker complained after I repeatedly told him not leave skids and cardboard in the warehouse and to take them where they belong. I straight up asked the manager what their plan was if I quit and was simply told life would go on and they would ask some employment agency to send them some help. Next time I have sit down with that same manager I complain about not having any help and get scolded with “Do You Know How Many People We've Interviewed?” Is this not a massive contradiction? They claim they can replace me but at the same time can't get me…

Is this not a massive contradiction? They claim they can replace me but at the same time can't get me any help while my department is literally falling apart and we've missed out on sales due to stock not being located in time. I get the feeling they simply don't want to admit that I am way underpaid.
