Americans are becoming less productive according to NPR article.

What I wonder is this: What is actually being produced and how is that measured. Is what is being produced of any actual value or is it some kind of bullshit products/services. Is it that people don't have incentive be productive since their efforts won't get properly rewarded, or they'll be fired/laid off no matter what. This article makes me think back to a youtube video from Wisecrack talking about “Bullshit Jobs”. Using the show “The Office” as an example they go into a discussion about how many of the jobs in the US at least, are just boring monotonous tasks that serve not real purpose other than so you the employee can collect a paycheck.
