It’s no secret at my job that I got sober last year. I’ve been to detox and also did some meetings to be the best sober me I could be. Well I came to my current job about 8 months ago and I’d been sober for about 4 or so months by then. I have always spoken openly and honestly about my drinking problems. Well this job is the worse job I’ve ever had. Back at the start of 2022 I realized I was starting to have cravings to drink. Telling myself “oh one won’t hurt” and things like that but I know that’s a slippery slope. So I went to my immediate supervisor talked to him and told him I would be attending some AA type meetings twice a week at 4pm. No problems since I’m suppose to get off at 2:30pm. Well they force everyone to stay over until 4:30pm every day. I refuse to do it on days I go to my classes. So yesterday my immediate supervisors boss told me I have to fill out and get signed a “accommodation request” and turned back in to go to my meetings. He said if I don’t they won’t allow me to leave for the meetings. Now remember I am suppose to get off work at 2:30, meetings are at 4:00. They want me to ask permission to go to a meeting after I get off work!!! I just grinned at him because he has zero idea today is my last day. I can not wait to start my new job on Monday!!!
