Firestorm is a FOR PROFIT private fire suppression company. This year they secured a $140 million dollar federal contract to provide fire suppression services.
During a non-emergency fuels project, one of their employees was killed by a falling tree.
The owner of this multimillion dollar company underpays employees, does not provide benefits, and started a fucking go fund me so that charitable people can shoulder the cost of supporting his young wife and child.
This $140 million dollar contract is money that should go to professional fire departments whose true mission is protecting life, property and natural resources. Unionized government firefighter jobs are suffering. This money could have paid for hundreds of full time, highly trained people that have legitimate health coverage, survivor benefits, and pay scale commiserate with the dangers of the job.
Instead it’s going to line the pockets of this fucking company.
