As a manager … well , let me rephrase ..as a 40 year old manager the biggest challenge I face is reconciling what I think is non existing work ethic of early 20 year olds with mine.
For me, it is such an entitled generation.
I hear things like “what do you mean I can't take time off with no PTO?” Or “I am not happy with this environment. It is not good for my mental health” or “I feel attacked” when they are being coached. All I am thinking is Huh? Like when did your problem become my problem?! When did it become my responsibility to make you happy? If you do not like where you work then quit! How did most of this new generation get the idea that they are so valuable? They are not! People have been doing your job before you and other people will do it after. It baffles me how these new “workers” somehow think that they are indispensable and that they deserve all these things just because. Earn your stripes tiger before you open your smart mouth. Newsflash..nobody cares about your feelings. Put in the hours, do the work, stop whining. That's it. Quiet quitting is for loosers.
Yes, maybe I'm getting that old, but I could not live with myself if I had half the nonchalance these new “kids” have.
