With $1000 basic income a month, realistically you can work 20 hour week instead of 40 and be fine. If you live in a cheap area, you can go without working at all. This is the dream and end goal of anti work, no?
In any other society, especially communism, you have to work to survive. I dont wanna live in a world with suicide nets under iphone factories or be shot for refusing to be a conscript in the army.
A basic income every month is vitaly needed to keep the economy running and live in this inflation-ran system. The US only imports and exports very little. If an economic collapse does happen due to hyper inflation, the US will have to become self dependent. As of today, the fiat currency that is not backed by gold or anything IS the gold. All countries trade with the dollar, and this puts the US in a special position because we control the supply. We have been printing more and more every year to pay off the debts from last year, which creates this vicious cycle of inflation. Next year we need more money to pay off this years.
Eventually its gonna collapse, and the new currency made after wont be tied to other countries currencies. Which means exactly what it means, no more cheap chinese goods imported because why lose money selling to us when you can make more money selling to a closer neighbor for a better price? No more korean cars. No more mexican raw metals or food, no more anything except what we have in the US at this time. There will be a shortage of everythiingggg. Toilet paper rolls and mask shortages wasnt even the start of it, wait till you see nothing in the grocery stores.
We have no choice but to learn to live with this inflation train before the big crash. Income is always gonna lack behind because its the last thing that gets effected by inflation. The rate you negotiated a year ago has to constantly be renegotiated every year. Especially now with 7% inflation. I think a basic monthly income is needed even if its to just pay off rent
