I have had my minimum wage job for well over a year now and suffice it to say, it has not been a good experience. My manager is your typical power-tripping boss and has even written me up for allegedly avoiding customers simply because she does not want to do any of the customer facing jobs herself. She also does not allow the use of gloves when we clean the store (in spite of health and safety regulations in my state saying that gloves are mandatory), unless you have a dermatological condition, in the height of the pandemic claiming that gloves are only for the kitchen hands and that the front of house junior staff who also serve as cleaners (which, considering this is a somewhat busy arcade in a busy mall, is incredibly unrealistic) with her and the shift supervisors (who get the cushy kitchen hand and office backroom jobs) simply yelling at the rest of the staff for not doing their jobs correctly.
So I finally decided, after being written up for basically doing my job (at a job where people quit/are fired on a monthly basis due to ridiculous standards of our manager), to anonymously report my job to the local work health and safety branch. Enough was enough. It's still yet to be processed but I'm genuinely hopeful that change may finally happen and I'm considering also reporting the safety concerns to the manager of the mall the arcade is situated in (as they also have the power to step in if there are concerns about working conditions in any of the stores).
All in all, dont take anymore of your power-tripping bosses crap and finally make a stand however you can.
TLDR: finally reported my job for breaching health and safety as well as for downright abusive work practices.
