Another Case of Deceptive Job Postings

This story is about a month old, but I thought some people would be able to relate after some other posts that I've been reading. I was looking for some social media/digital marketing jobs when I stumbled upon a realtor in my area on Indeed who was offering a salary of 70-85k + benefits. This would have been a HUGE increase over my last position as it was more of an under the table type gig so about 40k with no benefits. After several interviews and assignments where I already made social media posts for them (I thought it would be worth it if I managed to get the job). They end up giving me the offer and I'm elated, this would be lifechanging for me.

I end up getting on a call with an HR person to explain the compensation and benefits to me, she explains that the pay is 50k as a base and they offer benefits to go with it. I respectfully tell her the job posting had a 70-85k range and she explains to me that their compensation is broken down a few ways including: base salary, health insurance, a parking pass, a 401K plan that wouldn't start until 120 days, and once or twice a year the top realtor flips a house and splits the profits with employees but they didn't get into the details of that. I then ask if all of those benefits combined with the base compensation would equal to 70k and she explained to me there was no way to guarantee that.

Based off their initial deception I decided to turn down the offer because who knows how else they could be misrepresenting things. I hope I made the right decision, I ended up getting another job in the field currently still a bit early to see if it's the perfect job but so far there has been no misrepresentation.
