So I did an interview like 2 weeks ago for a company that called me that on the phone was telling me that you know they're $65,000 a year. Full supervisor position no outside labor other than inspect projects lots of driving dealing with contractors. So I agree to an interview.
Getting the interview you know tell the person when we talk about compensation I'm you know not switching jobs for less than 35 an hour. And he's like oh no we're more like 40 all right cool sounds good. Have a good interview tell me they got to deal with the GM of the company and blah blah you know get back to me in like a week or so.
I hear back yesterday and the guys like hey we want to bring you on for the supervisor position and your pay will be like $23 an hour. I'm just like well that's not happening I was like that's a $10 pay cut from what I have. And then the guy asks me well does your job have benefits and me “benefits come out of your pay so you're cutting my pay even more.” Then he starts to try to do math and he does bad math like well you know what 23 is 50 thousand a year which it's not and then we do 10 hours overtime every week so you know when you have that in it's an extra 18,000. Like I want to work 50 hours a week just to make less money than now. like plus it's a pay cut I don't care how he wants to present it. he's an idiot.
But before I get off the phone with the guy I just tell him well man none of that should matter I was can get 5 plus hours overtime at my leisure each week if I want them I get paid lunches and I make more money an hour than you're offering by a lot so no.
The more I think about it the more angry I am at the dude cuz the only reason I wanted this job was because it was supposed to give me like $40 an hour which would be about a $7 – 8 increase. But nope too good to be true.
Funny thing was you know they talked about how they're having struggles hiring laborers because nobody wants to work it was hard not to chime in nobody wants to work for s***** pay especially when I was considering what they're going to give me 40 they got to pay their workers decent but no I want to pay their supervisors 23 so labor is even worse
