I quit my job today. It was a fun job, with reasonably good pay, when you count the tips. But the woman running the plane was clueless, and there were a number of red flags. She hired a manager but then refused to let the manager manage anything. She would only schedule one person when at least 2 were needed. Now, all she has left are two teenagers who are pretty clueless, and a chef/kitchen manager who has to be one of the grumpiest people I've ever met (and who I'm pretty sure was stealing tips).
I made this place shine, figuratively and literally. The food was delicious, and I'm a customer service hero. I organized everything and offered suggestions for improvements. The owner didn't want any of it. There was an extremely over-complicated register system to boot, that I was constantly trying to organize. The final straw for me was when I was told off for updating the inventory. There was no one else around to do it, so I guess I was expected to just not sell things we had because they weren't in the register?
I didn't need more than 30 seconds to think about it. I said I was quitting effective immediately, and walked out. I'm just waiting to see if there's any tomfoolery with my tips this last week.
