I (25M) work as a Teaching Artist at a very prestigious museum in South Florida. Unfortunately, tensions are high with higher management and when the issues with the museum were brought up. Basically, they did nothing.
An email was sent by HR telling employees we will be getting a 5% raise January 2023. I make $18/hr so i would then be making $18.90 which feels like a spit in the face when the CFO is getting essentially a $6k bonus from this.
I figured the only way to have them hear us is to organize my coworkers so we have someone to advocate for us. I put some pro union posters up before the weekend, only to have them taken down when I clocked in this morning.
I figured the best place to ask would be this sub. I am nervous because my name is attached to this movement, and I risk losing my job. But at the same time, I would make more at Aldi than i do here.
Sorry for the long post, I can provide info in the comments.
