To give a little context, I'm an American truck driver of ten years, I now completely lost my passion. 2022 alone began vary well, started a company with a friend and we were rollin' we had lost 1 truck to major mechanical failure and another to a vehicle fire. We sold the remaining truck to a different company and they also hired me (it was my truck) so the only thing that changed was management, the new company turned out to be horrible, forcing me to drive illegally over HOS (hours of service, 10 hours driving or 14 on duty and 10 off) I racked 90k miles in 9 months. Wich should have been a decent income, the new owner would have trouble remembering to pay me. Would clame I was late every load and never paid me breakdown or detention/layover pay because it's still being “processed” by the brokers. (In excess of $10k) in September I had a vary tight run to deliver to 3 major retail stores, the first store let's call it Arget, had me scheduled to unload the next day when my rate contract was showing me I was early by 4 hours. It took 1 week to get empty, after that week I brought the truck in to the mechanic to get maintenance and repairs done. It's been nearly 3 months and the company won't answer my calls, text, or emails. They have a debt to me of nearly $20,000, what can I do in this situation? I have no money for a lawyer, can barely keep rent kept. And live 500 miles away from the office. Merry Christmas you filthy animal.
