If it's not common yet, it must become commonplace to call out such practices so that people who are looking for a new job can tell these companies to GTFO.
While sometimes we don't have a choice regarding a job, very often when it's the employee thinking of switching companies or being called by a recruiters, these are the kind of things that need to automatically lead to a door closing in their face.
When I say n°1 reason, it's actually realistic: as long as circumstances permit it, I would enjoy a low payed job in a certain field or even one that required long hours and traveling. But as soon as draconian surveillance measures are present, that can ruin even the most enticing job prospect for me.
I often suffer from “impostor syndrome”, I have adhd, and often work in erratic spurs or with variable performance from day to day. It took me a long time to accept myself for taking a break during work hours, knowing that it's just the way I work, and knowing there's nothing wrong with it given that I'm constantly being praised for performance.
So yeah, any sort of intrusive monitoring would stress me out and make such jobs a no-deal for me.
