Not really sure if it’s anti-work. Well, maybe it is. Since, when you’re in the office alone you can pretty much do whatever you want. Which may or may not include any actual work.
But just curious if anyone else really likes it too. I personally mostly enjoy it. I’m in insurance. I’ve had to cover the office by myself more times than I can count. And while I get a little annoyed that I have to come into work when no one else does, it’s kind of an opportunity to lock the doors, kick back, and just read, maybe watch some Netflix, draw. Whatever my heart desires. The phone rings, of course I pick it up and help the person. But if the phone only rings say…twice in an 8 hour day, that’s all the work I’m doing. If everyone else gets the day off and I have to be here, doesn’t mean I actually have to do any real work. I want my day off too, even if I’m physically here. I’m going to enjoy myself.
I really just love the quiet. No colleagues loudly yacking about their favorite reality tv, gossiping about their family/friends. And no one telling me how to do stuff when I didn’t ask. Just…silence. It’s lovely. And I covet my office alone time.
Anyone else?
