Anyone here following #hownottobeinanoffice ?

I know this sub mainly follows a different sort of job, but I am so here for the dime dropping on the messed up culture of the design industry thinking they own the very souls of their employees. For those not following, one of the leading schools of architecture hosted a panel in “How to be in an office,” , and some of the remarks were too real. The panelists said the quiet part out loud, un-self-consciously. My personal favorite might be, “When you commit to a project, to a firm, when you commit to a principal, and you really invest, then I guarantee you they will invest in you. They will pay you as much as they possibly can and be happy to do it.” Ahhhhhahahahahahahahahahaha. Right. Anyway, archinect has a pretty good write up on it, and I thought this sub would appreciate that the workers of the world are fucking fed up. Thank you to the young folks who’ve stood up and said they are not going to take this anymore. When I was in school we whispered about this stuff, but the few who stood up were deemed to “not have what it takes.” It took more and more people standing up to start having this conversation more seriously.
