So I have 9 years of retail experience 8 of them being a supervisor. I received an email about a hiring event so I thought cool I’ll check it out. I head to the store there are no signs indicating any event is taking place. I check front of the store after walking the sales floor looking for said event. I come to find out there is no event but the hiring manager is in today that’s why they sent the email.
So I’m a little peeved at this point but I sit down for the interview, explain my previous experiences, which include 3 years as a store hr manager. Everything is going good, until I ask what positions are available and what a rough schedule would look like.
The interviewer either didn’t know or didn’t want to tell me. The only thing said was they preferred open availability. I was told to fill out an availability and they would see if they could find anything. I asked again what positions and shifts do you need and I would be happy to feel out my availability after I understand what I’m applying for I was told that isn’t how it works. I informed them I was no longer interested and walked out, he seemed shocked.
I fell disrespected, Am I wrong here? I would never call a candidate in and not provide a guideline as to the hours that would be worked.
