Rant time!
I applied for a role with a well known fantasy sports platform. They were looking for someone who has knowledge of fantasy sports as well as a good background in content/media creation. I have 5+ years experience with that and did a fantasy segment for a sports podcast for a while too, in addition to putting in an ungodly amount of my own time on fantasy sports just because it's fun for me. So I like to think I know what I'm talking about. I got word back on my application today with the guy saying
“Thanks for your application! Unfortunately, for this position, we're looking for someone with a deeper kaowledge of fantasy sports.
But please keep us in mind as we post different opportunities in the future.”
I found this very offensive, I provided screenshots from the hundreds of fantasy leagues I've taken part in to show that I was serious about the role. So I politely replied for clarification, to which he replied:
“We're looking for someone that has done dedicated fantasy broadcasting, not just a segment on fantasy in a sports show.”
Ok so not only was this nowhere in the job qualifications, I find this extremely hypocritical since the guy that started this platform started from nothing and built his way up. I feel I'm in a much better position for this role than a lot of guys that start out in fantasy analysis.
Rant over!
