Companies offering X salary, benefits, etc and then actually paying you less than advertised seems to be rather common. For example: a company having a sign saying “hiring clerk for $15+ starting” sign, but revealing it's actually only $10 per hour after getting through the interviews. While I hope this is illegal, as of now I don't think we have any laws making it so.
