As a casual, is my employer allowed to cut my hours on the day?

So I work in retail in Australia. I’ll just say we sell a lot of pricey watches, but I only make the minimum retail award… There’s some dodgy stuff that happens with my pay, for example my manager throws a hissy fit whenever it takes longer to close than my allotted finish time. (Eg when the store closes at 5pm for patrons, my shift ends then too, but even if we have customers browsing with just a few minutes before 5 we’re somehow expected to clean the store, count the till, bank the cash, clean the cabinets and finish all the other odd jobs). My manager keeps saying that she has a budget to meet, and has a quid pro quo that if we finish late she won’t mind if we arrive to the shift a few minutes late. Anyway, last week because we were short staffed, our manager wanted to close the store early. So instead of working 6 hours from 11am-5pm she asked me to work 11am to 2pm for 3 hours. And she only gave me a few hours notice on the day. Is that legal – that I can only be paid for the shorter shift despite the lack of notice?
