I'm at my limit. It is taking everything in me not to respond to this face-slapping email.
As many of you may know, this season is BAD for plumbing. Lines freezing and bursting everywhere.
I worked both Christmas Eve and Day, and we only had 2 other people answering calls with me. We were getting queues of over 30 calls…. For the entire day. We could not handle the volume. There wasn't enough time to cry it out. Customers on hold for over 20-30 minutes. The pressure to keep booking customers when there are no more plumbers available (we get in trouble if we don't manage to book a call).
We were understaffed. We were unprepared. Our protocols were not updated for how to handle the high volumes. Whatever.
I DID NOT get to be with my husband this Christmas. I had to work. He left town to be with family.
I spent Christmas night in a dark room, alone, eating a cup of noodles, and crying after being screamed at all day in between endless phone ringing. But that's okay! Because my paycheck is going to be slap, and I'm going to be given a floating holiday to use for time off!

Today out manager sent us an email, saying that this Monday is going to be the day we use for Christmas pay, so EVERYBODY in the dispatch center is getting paid for working this Hell of a Christmas… Even though they didn't.
And, since EVERYBODY gets paid for Christmas… We don't get any floating holidays!
Riddle me this. What the FUCK is the incentive for working Christmas, if my promised day off is taken away from me, and everybody is getting paid for the same labor that they did not perform? Hell, I'm fine with everyone getting paid, but don't take my one day away from me that you promised would make up for me working on the holidays!
I'm SEETHING. And there is nothing I can do.
Corporations are the devil. They will chew you up, spit you out, and send you a “thank you” email as compensation.
