As someone who interviews people, whats the best way to handle people with obvious lies on their resumes?

The job requires honesty and I get resumes for people who are way under-qualified for the job and who lie on their resumes. In the interview, is it my job to help them feel good or to show them where and how they are lying, and to coach them about how to get the job with an honest approach but let them know I can't hire them because of the lie. My job is to help identify a good candidate. At this point I'd almost take an honest person who really wants the job rather than someone who lies about their experience and won't be able to.
