Asked me to send a video of myself

I applied to a company online, you know the drill – sent my resume, completed an application with some more information etc. About 5 minutes after that, I received two emails: The second was thanking me for applying The first was them telling me that they were very excited about my resume, I have great qualifications, I have been shortlisted and we will proceed with an interview (without giving specific day/time or asking me when it's convenient). But FIRST they want me to submit a video of myself saying hi, explaining my background and going in depth about my experiences, and explaining what makes this company different so that I want to work with them. Due to the tiny amount of time between my application and the emails that were sent, plus the fact that the thank you email was sent AFTERWARDS, I just realized that they send it automatically…

But FIRST they want me to submit a video of myself saying hi, explaining my background and going in depth about my experiences, and explaining what makes this company different so that I want to work with them.

Due to the tiny amount of time between my application and the emails that were sent, plus the fact that the thank you email was sent AFTERWARDS, I just realized that they send it automatically to everyone who applies, and just don't want to put it in the application form because a lot of applicants would be discouraged (me included). I was a little bummed I sent so much personal information for nothing and wanted to explain what they did was going to irritate applicants, but in the end I didn't bother and just said: thank you very much for your interest, but I do not want to submit any videos sth like that. No hard feelings.

After an hour they send another mail (not a reply to what I sent) that they are sorry, but I am not considered for the job, since they decided to proceed with other candidates.
Wtf is that?
