Asking for a friend…. forced to do job very different than job description.

Ok, some I’m really am asking for a family member. He(changing names for safety reasons) is a boomer, in sales, and being forced to do some manual labor. The labor involved is to manually stockshelves with a heavy product for a large part of the day. It is physically taxing and is work that should be done by a much lower pay grade. He’s not too proud to do the work, but he’s just a little older now and it’s physically difficult. He also has had medical problems recently. We think they are trying to push him out, especially since he’s close to retirement age, since he is paid much more than the younger sales dudes. They don’t have a good reason to let him go because he does his regular job and the labor part very well. Is this legal? I feel like they are taking advantage of his…
