Hello, if I’m in the wrong subreddit please feel free to remove this post but I’m so annoyed.
I’m a {27 F} fully remote 1099 employee and I actually live in another country most of the year. I love being remote, and that is like one of the only things keeping me at my job. They let me go 1099 which means I also lost the ability to have PTO and any benefits but I’ll take it over having the expectation to be in office.
Anyways, I’m back in town for the holidays but I live about an hour and a half from the office and I do not have a car because I live in a big city with public transportation most of the year. My boss is asking my to come into office but I just genuinely do not want to. I like my coworkers, but I just am not super social and I have 0 desire to take an hour and a half taxi there and back. I have no reason to go in, I don’t have a client facing role and nothing requires me to go in.
But I know I’ll come off rude if I don’t. It’s so stupid I hate office culture ugh
