The hero we need.
Am I wrong?
So I have 2 jobs? One is essentially fast food…the other is a liquor store. I love the liquor store solely because of the atmosphere. We have one employee who will sit in the back on his phone watching videos. I’m not going to lie I’m on my phone…when there’s no customers. I also do my job. Yet I’ve endured myself to the other employees…the owner’s daughter usually asks me if I want to cover a shift of someone who called in. Tonight was supposed to be off at 7. Someone called in so I picked the closing shift. The video guy came in round 8:30 saying he wanted more hours. I’ve been nice in the past & I’ve given a couple shifts away. But why is he saying it now? He has a car. That’s why I have 2 jobs. If he really needs hours get a 2nd job.…
Crude oil price trades around $120 and also doubled in 12 months. What that meabs for you, look out at the grocery and gas pump. Prices will skyrock soon.
A friend of mine is about to resign from his job (they have him working full time hours as a part timer and he's currently trying to get full time benefits because of it). If he doesn't get the benefits, he's probably gonna quit. My questions are: If he puts in a two weeks notice and they tell him it's fine, he doesn't have to work the remaining days but he wants to work those two weeks, what can he do? Is this technically a notice of termination? Does he have a case of any kind (in Texas) being a part timer and getting worked 40+ hours a week consistently? This is all assuming his job is gonna try to screw him on something. My question is, if they don't give him the benefits, what steps should he take to ensure he gets the best possible exit?
I hate this job so fking much
So me(23yo F) I am recently working as an accountant for a company that is keeping financial documents for 50 companies. Yesterday my boss asked me for help, even thought I made clear to her that I am new to this job and I dont know what I am doing. She told me to do stuffs then she went to the SALOON leaving me alone with a ton of work. She said she will come back to me after 30 mins but it took 2 hours. Alright I accepted that because I know that the time spent might vary but after she gave me a ton of work to do balance sheets for Oct Nov and Dec she said that she needs for February not those months. Then…I did as she asked and because I am new I messed up the numbers for some taxes because the paper was in…
Im given 3 sick days a year and used my last one today because of issues with my lungs but I'm worried that they might fire me because I called in. Any advice will help me.
I recently learned that someone I used to work with who has been there for an very, very long time is in the crosshairs to be “forced” into retirement within the next year. He getting primed to be the fall guy for a bunch of fuck ups that is / was a result of many, many other people dropping the ball along the way as well as larger systemic issues. Maybe he had some responsibility in it but in no way is it entirely his fault – thus no grounds for firing I guess. Forgive my ignorance. I've never held a management position before and I have a hard time really understanding how someone goes about doing this? I don't mean morally (although I find it sickening I am fully aware there are people with a sociopathic streak who don't care) but rather logistically…?
