[Rant] As a disabled person, I make less money while working. (France)

Back when I was willing to work, I could only work up to 50% of a full time job due to my health issues. It amounted to 450-500€/month (minimum wage in France), My full “disability allowance” was supposed to be about 900€/month, except that, when I was working, they took my salary into account and lowered it to roughly 400€/month. Of course you can add extra gas costs to that. I put my health on the line to be an active member of society and this is how my country repays me? Why is my “disability allowance” tied to how much I earn? Who thought this system was ok? Do they think I'm not disabled anymore if I work? I'm done with work for the foreseeable future.
