Best way to unionize?
I work for Target and have really been debating on trying to see if others here would be interested in starting a union. What are some of the best steps in order to get this started? I know some people that are interested, just need some ideas or suggestions on how to get the ball rolling. I’m located in PA, USA by the way just in case that matters with any union laws. Also, would I be protected (job wise) if I talk about it at work and try to start one?
There are a ton of commissions only jobs in my area. Most of which do not tell you it’s commission only until after the interview. It’s a huge waste of time! They put your possible salary but not the real salary in the job description. What ticked me off was when a business I interviewed for a few months ago posted that they’re short staffed and trying their best to hire new people. This is how my interview went: So basically 40 minutes of the boss telling me how great it is to work there. Some of his reasons included financial security and the fact that most of his employees work over time by choice so that must mean they like being in the office so it’s not a bad work place. Then he asked me a bunch of questions and he told me I sounded highly qualified for the…
Let US be the change we all deserve :)
TL;DR – Employers are hurting. NOW is the time to use memes to make real change Since the pandemic, many of us have had our eyes opened wide to the unfairness and corruption rampant all around us. We have seen inflation reach highs not seen since the great depression (yes, I know it was higher back in 1980, but we changed the metrics used to make it seem better than it is 'lol'). We have seen rental home prices go through the roof to the point of unsustainability. We are seeing big businesses struggling with global supply chain issues but are still posting record profits, but most of important of all, we are seeing communities come together to spread the truth, which is absent on your main stream news stations and websites. Due to stimulus checks and unemployment provided by our 'beneficent' government, we are collectively seeing that we are…
Can’t stand job
I guess I’ll just say it. I’m a help desk tech and I can’t stand it anymore. My boss will always tell me “we are family here” but then at the same time gave me a 2.1% raise last year (inflation close to 10%). I’m constantly doing the dirty work of my job, like manual labor and moving equipment floor to floor. The commute is 1 hour of gridlock traffic everyday, so I leave around 7 and get back 7 (unpaid “help” around the office until 6) They won’t give me an option to do a hybrid schedule too. I just can’t stand going to bed thinking about how boring tomorrow is going to be, and knowing my engineering degree didn’t go to anything (they gave promise for me to move into a more technical role but now won’t tell me anything about my future). I’ve been working at this…
Let me explain… I left my industry job recently to transition into a new career because the long hours in kitchen management was killing me. To ease the transition I started temping at a warehouse through an application on my phone. I really liked the job and the flexibility it offered me so I ended up using it regularly and was noticed by management for my attention to detail and punctual attendance. Apparently the other average temp this warehouse was getting were usually shady, late, and unreliable, or they never showed up for their 2nd shift. After working at this warehouse for about 2 months, I was told by my manager that I was not going to be needed regularly moving forward because business had slowed and staffing was appropriate. This manager later told me that he may need me in the future and would stay in touch through the…
