there’s even worse
I'm a mechanical engineer and I've been working for almost two years now. I'm being paid 880 US $ PER MONTH. (only in a different currency but that's the value I get in USD.) Welcome to Croatia thanks for listening
Working Conditions
I'm not in a position right now where I can go back to school or even bother starting the whole learning a new skill thing. I just want to know what was your experience working for Micheals, Tim Hortons or as a school janitor. This is all that seems to be available in my area. If I'm stepping into a lions den, I want to know.
Short story
I moved in to Europe a few years ago, it was my childhood dream. I took any job I could find so I was working at this hotel that was run by a family. The son was the manager and his sister and I had the same occupation there, working at the reception. I worked night shifts, which destroyed my health and aged me a lot. Let's not talk about the lazy employee that had her shifts right after mine ended and would always be late because she didn't want to take the early bus and well… be early. What I wanted to tell is that many times I would have to work 16 hours a day because the sister wouldn't be able to be there. Then, I found out one day why: she was going to parties and concerts. I never again accepted that and would only work my…
Boss just took time off to sleep. Coworker took time off to see a manicurist. ME: EXHAUSTED from all the work involved in keeping my current job so I can pay my miserable goddamned rent. ME: EXHAUSTED from all the work involved in “just get a new job lmfao”. EVERYBODY ELSE has time to “chill” and relax and have “worklife balance” I HAVE BEEN FUCKING GLUED TO MY COUCH for days now while I work ALL DAY and CRAM COURSES ALL NIGHT so I can GTFO. My back hurts and my neck hurts. Hey no problem! I don't deserve to eat or sleep or do ANYTHING ELSE. Got blasted last night for being 'lazy'. Got blasted THIS MORNING for being 'lazy'. Got interrogated JUST NOW in front of the ENTIRE FUCKING COMPANY for not doing enough. WHAT THE FUCK. NOBODY SPEAKS UP FOR ME. To all the 'lmfao just get…

It wasn’t even my fault. I’ve only been here two months. He used to have three vehicles with a finance company, but he’s down to just one. One his ex partner took when he left, and another got repossessed. I had three invoices with nothing but the account numbers on them. No vehicle description. No VIN number. The old bookkeeper didn’t notate the account numbers so I was at a loss for which to pay. I tried calling the finance company myself, but I’m not an authorized user. I would have pretended to be but I am a woman, and the account is owned by a man. After weeks of trying to pin him down he finally sat down with me yesterday to make the call. (He was already mad because he thinks I should just handle the bookkeeping without bothering him, which is fair, but I need to be…
My company is about to enter contract negations in May and I’m a relative newbie to the place but will be one of the negotiators for my fellow employees. I have never been in this type of situation before but see it as an opportunity to fight for every employee not just for myself or the people who have been there 35 plus years. My main focus right now are getting everyone a liveable wage that reflects the rise in cost of living and reversing a previous contract that reduced sick days from 12 to 4. I would very much appreciate any advice or insight from anyone who has experience with this and also any input on what I should fight for on behalf of my coworkers Thank you
