Asked to go home around 1 because I just kept jumping up and down to go to the bathroom. I couldn’t eat and I was exhausted. Boss got me out early after I waited for everyone to take breaks (we are short staffed by four people in one of the busiest clinics in my area. I work front desk/call room.) Inform my boss I was diagnosed with a stomach flu and UTI and as long as I was doing better this morning I would come in. Well, I wasn’t. I started running a fever overnight and was up the entire night sick. So I text my boss and told her I don’t think I’d be able to come in especially with the fever, so I was calling out for today. She tells me that a text isn’t good enough and I’d have to call her cell phone. Did I mention…

I am already dreading my second shift
Oh my, where do I start. Today I had my first shift at a certain fast food chain starting with an K. I have already worked for another certain fast food chain starting with an M. I sucks, it really is awful. Awful conditions, awful pay, hazardous, hot oil, slippery, potentially everything could be as shit as it could be possibly. I've had no training in person or remotely, excuses abound, today was my first training and my trainer almost burnt himself to injury with one of the fryer pots. No safety training and I'm in this environment? Imagine how I feel about working for pittance. My trainer is a High School dropout, sure I only finished last year but c'mon, what is this? I'm a trained Tennis Coach I've made money from Cryptocurrency fucksake what am I doing? I'm really thinking of going to apply for University, job hunting…
High class restaurant in Chicago
I completely forgot I had an interview at a high class restaurant in a rich neighborhood and it went very well. Towards the end of the interview the guy interviewing me said “Yeah so come in for your work interview on Friday at 5pm and then at 9pm you can grab a meal and a drink from the bar so you don’t feel used.” I immediately said “The work interview is unpaid?” To which he replied “Well… yes.” I then said “I’m not going to work for free.” He then said he would talk to someone about paying me for the interview and he would give me a call to come in on Sunday instead. I never received a phone call. I’m assuming they’re just taking advantage of young people to plug their labor shortage and then just spitting them back out onto the street. They wanted me to have…
I've heard “multiple sources of income” so much in my time. However, this seems like it is designed for people who already have or make substantial money. After monthly expenses are dished out there isn't enough left over to generate additional income to carry you in the event the main source is lost. If you have a family to care for and bills to pay on less than 6 figures a year, how do you realistically achieve this seemingly mythical stream?
Quitting my job was something I’ve thought about for a while now. The response on my last post gave me the courage to actually leave my comfort zone (change is very scary for me) and find something better. I just accepted a job at a local medical cannabis dispensary and put in my notice at my current job. While my starting pay will be less than what i make now, I genuinely think this change will be much better for my mental health. Wish me luck, and thank you, internet strangers!
I personally developed agoraphobia after being fired. And the mental abuse from other stressed workers and too much of a barrier in character to even get along. I dont even want to go out there and face the world again because I dont want people being nasty to me whilst having a severe panic attack
Hard work gets you nowhere.
Well maybe you get a goofy hat and a badge. #breaktheclichée
