I just want better for myself.

Hi all. Thanks for hearing me out. I’m 21 and I feel stuck. I’ve been working as a janitor for the last year at $14/hr while trying to pay off an 11k surgery. Its been done, but its been horrible and soul sucking. It’s not the worst, and people have it worse than me, but it still sucks. It feels like I keep pulling myself in a million different directions. I want to go back to school. At least I think. But i know I’ll have to work at the same time, and I already have MDD and intense passive suicidal ideation. Basically admitting I can be very fragile. And i feel guilt with that knowing how intense some jobs can be and how bad we need them (like surgeons.) But I dont wanna be in debt. I had a pell grant, but I never ended up getting my associates…

Manager expects me to squash talk of pay.

I told her no of course. I work at a hospital as a nurse. I'm essentially the shift lead of my area, but not a manager. We're hemmoraging staff because dealing with covid has just absolutely sucked, and you can double or triple your pay by leaving and working as a travel nurse. To try to intice people to stay we got a decent raise. It's based on tenure. I've worked for the company for 4 years in May, my raise was from $29.6 to $34.x. I started at 22.5 as a new grad. Not everyone got a raise. What my manager told me was that corporate looked at data of who was leaving the most. People who have been with the company for 10+ years weren't quitting to travel, so corporate just didn't give them a raise. What a thank you for your loyalty. At least I know about…

Trouble with emboss after getting “let go” on valentines day

Hi, Long time lurker sorry for format I'm on mobile My ex boss gave me a phone call on valentines day during my covid leave letting me know that “my role was no longer needed and I was being let go”. A few days after, I get an email that I will not be compensated for the 2 weeks I worked before going on Covid leave because I had not completed an ongoing and year long project. Now in my contract it states that I am an hourly employee that isn't paid based on project completion. I'm just at a loss for words at what to do to be honest. Not only did I lose my job, but now I'm getting denied pay for 2 weeks of tedious office work. Any advice on how to handle this?

So I got the job

I posted a few days ago about some odd interview questions I got but I did get the job. My training days are supposed to be part time but I don't think anyone told my trainer. She said maybe a dozen words to me and instead of pointing out and correcting my mistakes she just went behind me and wiped up non existent dirt. She spent a good portion of the morning talking to a coworker about some drama and talking to her husband who works in maintenance (no clue what about I don't speak tagalog). I'm exhausted and my joins ach bat at least I'm making minimum wage (14.50). The worst part is it would be so easy to streamline the work. I can definitely see why so many people quit after only a few days of changing sheets and throwing away all the drugs people keep leaving in…
