Tip your drivers

I work for uber eats, and jeez let me tell you how shitty some people are, there is literally a surge in gas prices everywhere and you have the audacity to not tip your uber/doordash/postmates/ect drivers you're a piece of shit. Idc people. If you can't tip eat at home. It's nuts. Idc if it's 0.25 just toss a tip. We're wasting gas to do you a favor and try to make ends meet. Work with us not against us.

Do I have to sign a rescission of benefits form? Or can I just let my benefits lapse on their own?

I recently went PRN/Casual at my old job (I say old because I honestly have no intention of ever picking up a shift for them) and the HR lady keeps emailing and calling me about my health benefits. I already got a new full-time job with benefits that I've signed up for and I assumed my old benefits would end on their own without any input from me. It seems like that's the case anyway since in the email it says “This is important and time sensitive information detailing how to prevent benefit coverage from lapsing. Employees who wish to drop coverage must notify the Corporate Benefits Department within 30 days from the qualifying event (which is the effective date of the status change from full-time to part-time or casual/PRN) by completing the attached Rescission of Benefits Form.” I just want to know what others may have done in a…

Why do Indian offices have no work life balance?

I just started a new position as an intern, and they have no work life balance at all. Being at home just makes it worse, they promised me a 4 hour work day but I have being working for 6 hours or so. They even message on the group about work till 1am. Now they are calling me to work on a Saturday. Am I demanding a lot and is this just the regular office life? I am very fustrated cause managing uni hasn't been super easy at the same time. If y'all have any advice or want to rant, go ahead.

Working before contract start

I will start my PhD in April and as of yet have not started working at the department. I was kindly offered to voluntarily join on a work trip next week. Picture a school trip that only happens 1-2 times a year and that I would just miss. This is a nice opportunity to get to know some people already and receive tips before I get started. Well, this week I was asked to help prepare materials – and in the end found that they wanted me to prepare an entire session. People are asking me questions I can not yet answer because I haven't started researching my topic. They are giving me introductions that I'd be grateful for a month from now but right now I want to enjoy my well deserved break. While typing this I got another email asking if I wanted to do a presentation at…

Old Boss that I hate

I worked for this dude for a year as a carpenter. This is old and not like a horror story like most posts here. I was like 22, never worked as a carpenter before. When I first started everything was great, people were nice, boss is like a dick but in a funny way at the time. When he started he was very hands on doing work all day with us so I thought that was cool. He was training me then after a while I started to work with his right hand man. Right hand man guy was the only one who knew how to read blue prints and other detailed worked bossman couldn't do. Right hand man and I became buds and we would do projects on our own. RHM enjoys his mary jane and so do I but I wouldn't smoke on the job. Long story short…

Questions to ask prospective employers

I’m job hunting in an effort to have enough money to pay down debt to open my own small business. What sorts of questions should I ask during the interview process? I plan on all communications happening over email to keep a record.

Boss says my excel spreadsheet is “wrong” and “overcomplicated” in front of other colleagues. He proceeds to show us how to do the “correct” sheet, substituting the filter I had placed for deletion of the data we don’t need.

Title says it all. In the end he even said we don’t need to engineer data. I am an engineer and he hates it.

Good news, wages aren’t keeping up with inflation

“One surprise in today’s jobs report was wage growth, which was little changed month over month. The slower-than-expected growth could make rising prices more painful for everyday Americans, but could also ease concerns that the recent inflation will prove to be persistent. “The details are bullish for stocks in that job creation remains robust and the participation rate is moving higher while wages came in soft, potentially taking some pressure off the Fed,” said Adam Crisafulli of Vital Knowledge.”
