Call center industry was literally killing me

I do understand most of us must start somewhere when you enter the workforce but when you live in a poor country and call center is the only option to have a “decent” income, you kinda stick with for life, i spend 5 years living in hell, and I had nowhere to go, my salary in a call center was 3.50 per hour which is super high where I live and the sadess part is that is even one of the best paid salaries in my country so when I finished college, none hired and those that do pay $2.50 per hour tops, and that's it that's your roof, nowhere else to go. This place had very unfair goals, terrible treatment and constant hearing of “Let's focus on what you can control” which is pretty absurd when your job depends on literally the surveys generated by the customers. And the…

Record profits means huge bonuses to some and small pay raises for the rest

The company that I work for made record profits last year. I won’t name them, but lets just say that by their nature, Covid is great for business. At the end of the year they put out numerous emails about record profits and individual sections hitting all time high milestones. Most of us are on a bonus plan bases off of our base pay. Of course those of us out doing the work not only get paid less, but the bonus % of our pay is also significantly less. Basically the guys out working long days, with nights and weekends on-call are getting 1/4 of the bonuses that the 9-5ers are getting. Don’t get me wrong, the raise I’m getting this year is really good. Thank, like the amount to buy a used JetSki. But these other fucks can buy a new mid-size SUV. And the regional managers can buy…

Interviewing and the whole culture around it is such a sham

And I am lucky enough where I get to apply to remote/hybrid jobs (I am NOT working in the office for 8+ hours a day 5 days a week anymore, but that's another rant)… but this fake culture of essentially sucking off the recruiter/hiring manager, fake laughing at every shitty response, and selling yourself is so exhausting. Don't get me wrong, having a good elevation pitch is great, but when every job requires you to “give it your 200% and do more work than the manager asks and come up with your own solutions” it is EXHAUSTING. “So tell me, do you think you are over-qualified or under-qualified for this role?” What the fuck kind of question is this – you have to know at this point I will not answer any question you give me truthfully, I will just say whatever you want to hear so you can give…

I’m so sick of sales jobs misleading reps about how much money you’ll make

I've worked a few sales jobs in the past. One I did pretty well at and made pretty good money. I feel like it's almost impossible to find an employer like that again. There are so many shitty ass jobs. They'll lie to you about commission percentage as well as payoff, and they don't tell you what their reps are actually taking home. I'll ask this in interviews and they'll just lie to your face. It's fucking bullshit.

Red flags

I saw a job advert that looked pretty good, the only downside was that they didn't disclose the salary, they asked applicants to write how much they would ask so the employer could “rule out people who did not match the profile of the institution”. That was the first red flag but the work itself looked pretty good so I applied anyways. I sent my CV and salary expectations along with a small greeting to the email provided. They replied by thanking me for my interest and asking me to send my CV (already attached in the original message). Red flag number 2, since apparently they couldn't bother to read the emails or check what was included. They asked if I would be available for an online interview that afternoon after 4 pm, I replied I was. They immediately asked if we could do the interview “during the morning” (note…
