Hi guys, been reading through the sub on and off during work for a while, and felt like I should post. I'm trying to figure out if I should find somewhere else to work. For context, I work at an IT MSP(we do IT support and solutions for companies across our part of England). We currently have instant remote access to just over 1000 machines, that includes user machines and servers, and support 50-60 companies roughly. We currently have 4 active support staff(some are apprentices), and one of our bosses which is often in to help and manage. The main boss is often MIA and will turn up randomly. We receive anywhere from 10-50 support calls a day(phone calls, tickets, emails, etc..), it's completely unpredictable. I am in new job (4 months), where I make 6$/hour. I work there just for the experience I get and that little paragraf in CV. Currently my supervisor setup group gift for my boss who got is academic and got the professor title. She wants me to pay 20$ for group gift to which I replied I cant afford it (I really cant). Hi everyone. I've been thinking about the absurd rent prices and how it feels like renting is no longer a stepping stone to home ownership but more a trap that landlords are trying to keep people in for a perpetual “cash cow.” Everything I'm going to say/ask is hypothetical, since I have very little money to my name and have no way of doing any of this at the moment. Are there any laws/regulations on how LOW someone can rent out property in the US? I can't help but feel like it wouldn't be hard to rent out a decent property at an actually affordable price that would pay off all the expenses and have a little left over for a repair/improvement. I just spoke to a fast food worker who told me that they were given benefits (only after 5 years of working at a franchised fast food place). And that the owner won’t let them take time off, claim or use their PTO. I don’t know labor law very well, but that is absolutely illegal, right? This is in the US, for context. I’m trying to get resources in order for this person, who I think might be living out of their car idk it makes me so mad. I know they don’t have time to look into this themselves and I’ve been slowly building “labor-ish” relationships with the staff at this chain caffeinated beverage place, if you catch my drift.

So I quit my administration job back in May 2021 and have been unemployed ever since. I have this internal conflict where I want to work full time again yet I have no motivation or drive to look for another job. I was 26 when I resigned my former job, I had been working since I was 19 hopping from job to job. For 7 years, I got stuck in a hellish cycle or working to my breaking point, quitting, changing jobs just to be worked to my breaking point again. This is the longest I've ever been unemployed and this is the first time I've had such a hard time looking for a job, but at the same time I don't really want to look for one. Anyone else feels this way?

This subreddit shouldn't just be a space to share grievances. We need to fight for a common goal. I think paid vacation is one. Everyone needs a break. It's time we mobilized to actually get something done. We're a big group and we can easily organize to get at least this small change enacted. Many countries offer WEEKS of guaranteed paid vacation! So my brother recently started a job at a community college where he basically signs on to a google meeting, and students can join the meeting to be matched with a 1 on 1 tutor. He tutors Chem to college student seeking their degrees. He gets paid 25 cents above minimum wage. This is a highly specialized job that requires communication/teaching skills and a strong education. He's damn good at his job. Well, he's also a very punctual person. He liked to get to where he needs to go 10ish minutes before, “just in case”.
