we are not the weird ones – small rant
you know what shits me? the fact that not wanting to accept the archaic capitalist cult mindset of “live to work” is still seen as alternative. you’re the “other”, the “outlier”, the “weirdo” for saying “hey maybe this isn’t how humans were meant to live”. i hate that i’m constantly being reassured “you just need to see a therapist about depression and anxiety, you’ll be alright” when we all know the problem is fucking capitalism. i despise being a slave for the benefit of my out-of-touch boss’ wallet. i can’t stand having to turn up every day and pretend i’m grateful to be selling my soul and my time just to answer some inane email. i’m tired of thanking my company, as though i’m fucking oliver twist, for “allowing” me a minuscule amount of time to have a life, a couple of days a year to experience the world outside…
Been there, done that
I actually don’t mind being a server…
Until one of my managers knowingly called me on one of the days I requested off a month ago today to tell me how I was, “screwing them over,” by not coming in. I tried my best to get all shifts covered for the week even though she barely posted the schedule a week ago. I put up notes, I sent out notices, and she even said if I get most of the days covered, she would put the rest up as House Shifts. I am happy with my normal schedule. I'm okay doing what I do. I barely covers the bills, but it covers the bills, and I love where I live. I have plenty of time to have fun, if I make it, and my puppy is well fed. I could make more elsewhere if I applied myself, but I'm okay. I get by. I overwork myself most…
Just a little drunk statistics
The odds of winning the lottery are approximately 1 in 290 million. There are 4 major business men in America who get regular attention. Musk, Bezos, the Zuck, and Gates. That's 4 in 330 million. Attribute your own meaning, but it looks bleak to me. You are owned by snake oil salesmen.
So so many people slave away in shitty work situations every day, metaphorically getting fucked up the ass by their 1% bosses, and feeling there's nothing they can do about it as they're scared of ending up homeless or feel they need experience for their resume. Most perniciously of all, their bosses refuse to pay to properly train then, then when they make a small mistake, they get crucified for it. Bosses will say “You are stupid and incompetent and useless and no other company would want you, be grateful you have a job here” same as abusive partners will tell their girlfriends they are stupid and ugly and no other guy would want them. Hell, Sharon Van Etten's failed musician of an ex even smashing up her guitar to try to sabotage her music career. Lauren Mayberry from Chvrches I think also had a partner who belittled her and…
Fired? Not fired? What the f-?
Hey yall so I was working for a headstart and I started as a substitute, well I was offered a job as a lead teacher one day and I accepted their offer. Well they gave that job to someone else because they threw a fit that I was the one getting the job (even though the other person said to me on multiple occasions that they hated the job and wanted to quit?). So they offered me a lower position and strong armed me into taking it. I worked this position for maybe a month and after going through a ton of BS where they wouldn't actually train me for that position (and they threw me in there with no help whatsoever) they said that I couldn't work that position anymore so they demoted me back to a substitute. Or so I thought. I was told that if I declined…
